Intellectual Overexcitabilities
When people think of gifted this is generally the first thing that people think of when hearing the word gifted. Someone who is book smart, learn quickly, mature for their age, curious, and observant.
While this can be true it does not always come out this way. Maturity comes in waves and not on the same time table as others. This can be a source of frustration for the person and those around the person.
Curiosity can come across as being nosy.
Observations can come across as being critical.
Knowing much can come across as arrogance, especially when passionate about an area.
Learning quickly can lead to boredom faster than others.
Next Steps
When this happens it can be hard to relate to others. By finding others with your same passions all are coming at the same area with a love of wherever that passion area lies.
Create times where you can be curious about a subject. Knowing that there is a time coming up that you can express that curiousity and sense of learning can make the other times bearable.
Conclusion
While have an intellectual overexcitability can be amazing, it can also come with challenges. By having a plan in place and being honest about any feelings or frustrations that can happen, one can navigate those areas with a little bit of ease.
