Time of Waiting
In the Bible it says that there is a time for every season (Ecclesiates 3:1-8). There is one season that can be one of the most frustrating for people- it is to be in a time of waiting. There isn’t a yes or a no. It is only a time to wait. Maybe you are waiting for a new job, or maybe you are waiting for a child. Maybe your wait involves news of a health diagnosis.
For many this time can be a source of weariness and discouragement. It can weigh on a person like a sack of rocks on your shoulders. You want to hear a word but still-silence.
So what can you during this time?
Be honest
It is okay to be honest when you feel anxious, discouraged, or scared. By acknowledging your feelings, they can come out in a way that is healthy instead of staying corked up inside. The Bible says “O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.”—Psalm 139:1-2. If He knows our thoughts, saying them out loud does not change His thoughts about us.
Being honest can be healing for you.
Use the Time
During this time of waiting use this time to grow as a person. Maybe you need to work through parts of your life that are hanging on and keeping you stuck. For some, it is learning a new skill or hobby. How can you use this time to grow as a person?
Leaning on Others
We were never meant to walk in life alone. When we lean on others, the burden becomes less. Whether it is leaning on friends, joining a support group, or seeking out help from a counselor you do not have to walk through this time alone.
Conclusion
It is not easy to wait, but it does not have to be a time to tear you down. There is hope. You are not alone.
